Lex Parkers' Model Railroad Homepage Open link in new window
I model the DENVER & RIO GRANDE WESTERN RAILROAD in On3 (1/48th scale) on October 17, 1937 at 4:00 p.m. with a focus on the yards at Chama, New Mexico! I selected the D&RGW to model since I enjoyed the variety of topography it provided and the narrow gauge because it could be modelled in On3 in the space I had. I decided to model the 1937 era that had not yet introduced the Flying Herald and was a period still suffering from the depression years. This justified the weathering of my models. I chose October 17, because the fall in Colorado is spectacular with Aspens contrasting against the Pines and 4:00 pm... well, why not?

The Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad ran in both the states of Colorado and New Mexico. The line from Chama to Antonito criss-crossed the state's borders.

Nn3 Discussion Group Open link in new window
This is the home list of the N-Scale Narrow Guage special interest group. In short form this is Nn3. While we use the term Nn3 to describe our gauge it is not stricly speaking only the 3 foot gauge we model. The three popular gauges modelled are 3 foot, 3 foot 6 inch and meter gauges.

Nn3 Home Page Open link in new window
Nn3 is narrow gauge in N scale, primarily, but not exclusively using Z scale standards to represent 3ft narrow gauge railroads. While it's obviously a minority interest, it's followed by an increasing number of modellers worldwide.

The focal point for much of this activity is the Nn3 mailing list on Yahoo, where modellers congregate in cyberspace to discuss modelling topics and plan Nn3 events. The Nn3 Handbook is a joint project by members of the Nn3 mailing list

Route to the Redwoods Open link in new window
Route to the Redwoods - Boone Morrison's HOn3 Journal. The saga begins many years ago when I was introduced to California narrow gauge, and the North Pacific Coast in particular, through the wonderful book Oil Lamps and Iron Ponies. The chapter on the NPC captured my imagination as I saw my home area through the lens of history. I was hooked. Now, more than forty years later, I am finally able to model a small piece of this wonderful little narrow gauge line and that project is what this Journal, Route to the Redwoods, is all about.
