South Dakota - James Valley Model Railroad Association

Aberdeen, SD - The James Valley Model Railroad Association was formed on November 3, 1987 when a group of twenty-two model railroad buffs met in the Northwest Public Service meeting room.

The Association charter was adapted and signed by twenty-two members on February 15, 1988. Ten of these original members are still active in the association today.

South Dakota - Missouri Valley Model Railroad Club

Yankton, SD - The Missouri Valley Model Railroad Club is located at 221 W. 3rd St. in Yankton, South Dakota. We are open to the public every Monday evening from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The club was established to promote the world’s greatest hobby and to bring awareness to the importance of trains throughout history and well into the 21st century.

When you visit our layout, you will see two separate HO scale layouts and a portable N scale traveling layout. The first layout is a 15x40 with a double mainline for continuous action and two large yards for switching. This layout is equipped with both DCC or DC depending on your needs. The layout is divided into several privately owned modules combined together with club owned modules to make an impressive model railroad.

The second is a privately owned 15x8 layout that features spectacular bridges, mountains and extreme detail. This layout is a DCC or DC layout that features mining, oil and timber operations.

The club also has an N scale traveling layout that can be taken virtually anywhere. The N scale layout is mainly displayed and operated during various community events.

We are a Chartered 501 (C) non-profit organization who relies strictly on club member dues. If you are interested in seeing the Missouri Valley Model Railroad Club in action or becoming a member, please contact us or stop down any Monday evening.

South Dakota - Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society

Sioux Falls, SD - Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society - South Dakota's largest H.O. scale display model railroad layout. A 501C3 Organization. The Sioux Valley Engineer’s Society was originally formed in 1948.

Future plans include an expansion of the present club building to accommodate a large HO scale train/circus layout that was donated to the club. This addition would almost double the size of the present layout area making our display even more attractive. These plans however, are subject to funding and the SVMES is working closely with the Board to accomplish this project in a timely manner.
